JOINT COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE VISITS NDU-K

On 16 October 2024, the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) Course 40-2024/25, led by Deputy Commandant Brigadier David Chesire and faculty members, visited the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) at its Seat in Lanet, Nakuru County. They were welcomed by Major General William Shume, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) of Research, Innovation & Security Studies, on behalf of the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Lieutenant General Jimson Mutai.

During a plenary session, the course participants were briefed on the University’s mandate, which focuses on training, capacity building, research, and innovation in national security and strategy, as well as promoting national development.

In his address, Major General Shume reaffirmed NDU-K’s commitment to leadership in developing suitable plans and strategies that encourage research and innovation across its Colleges. He emphasized that these efforts contribute not only to national security but also to sustainable socio-economic development. Major General Shume urged faculty members and course participants to prioritize research and the production of quality publications, noting that such initiatives would enhance the University’s profile and attract external research funding to support its programmes.

JCSC, a tri-service College of NDU-K, provides training for tactical-level Commanders and staff officers from the Kenya Defence Forces and allied countries. The program prepares participants to effectively lead the operations process and achieve strategic, operational, and tactical outcomes.
