Division Summary

One of the core functions of National Defence University-Kenya is to conduct research and develop innovations in the domains of security and Defence in order to enhance national security and promote national development. The University pursues this mandate through the Division of Research, Innovation and Security Studies (RISS) which is mandated to promote research and innovation in security, contribute to policy and strategy formulation in Defence and national security, collaborate with think tanks and other relevant organizations in research focusing on Defence and national security among other functions. The Division executes its mandate through the Directorate of Research, the Directorate of Security Studies and the Directorate of Policy and Strategy. 

The Division of Research, Innovation and Security Studies is committed to work with various stakeholders to provide practical research-based solutions to contemporary and emerging security challenges as well as support the Government’s Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BeTA) in a complex and competitive global and regional environment.
