NDU-K Hosts National Security Awareness in Medical Services Course

On 31st July 23, the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) launched the National Security Awareness
in Medical Services Course at the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC), Nairobi. IPSTC is
a College of NDU-K.


The course, a collaborative venture between NDU-K and the Ministry of Health seeks to equip participants
with the necessary knowledge on national security awareness in the delivery of medical services. The
training is further tailored to enhance leadership and governance skills, understanding of national interests,
instruments of national power, boost strategic thinking and communication, deepen understanding on the
roles of MOH and medical professionals in national security and development, appreciate aspects of
biosecurity and safety among others. Participants are expected to have enhanced their knowledge and
skills on their core roles in medical services delivery towards the achievement of their constitutional
mandate in national development.


The course was officially opened by Principal Secretary; State Department of Public Health and
Professional Standards, Ms Mary Muthoni. The ceremony was also graced by Vice-Chancellor NDU-K,
Major General Said Farah and KDF Director of Medical Services, Maj General (Dr) George Ng’ang’a
among other senior military and Ministry of Health officials.
