CADET INTAKE 12 (1980) REUNITES TO CELEBRATE SERVICE, FRIENDSHIP, AND LEGACY
In a reunion marked by vibrant reflections of enduring spirit of service and deep camaraderie, retired Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Senior Officers who were part of Cadet Intake 12 (1980), held a thrilling get together ceremony, the event coincides with the intake’s 44 years of comradeship and the third reunion meeting since they retired from the active military duties.
The intake retraced their training journey in Mararal, Samburu County, under the theme “Where It All Started.” Their “Safari ya Samburu” began at the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K), where they were hosted and flagged off by the Vice-Chancellor, Lieutenant General David Tarus
The team further paid a courtesy call on Major General Timothy Lokolool, National Defence College (NDC) Senior Directing Staff at his residence in Maralal. Major General Lokolool applauded them for their exemplary performance and determination when they were still in service.
The highlights included climbing the iconic Trig-Point, visiting Muramur Dam, and revisiting the Muramur–Sekeret–Poror axis. Distinguished alumni from the intake include Amb Maj Gen (Rtd) George Owinow, Maj Gen (Rtd) Patrick Amogola, and Maj Gen (Rtd) Joseph Kivunzi.
In their reflections, the veterans underscored the values of integrity and professionalism, while appreciating the issuance of Veterans Identification Cards that enhance their bond with serving personnel.
The reunion ceremony concluded with a cocktail reception, reinforcing unity, mentorship, and the importance of caring for one another beyond active duty.
