CDF VISITS DEFENCE COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES

The Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla recently made a familiarization visit to the Defence College of Health Sciences (DCHS) in Nairobi. DCHS is a College of the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K). The CDF is the Chairperson of NDU-K Council.
The purpose of the visit was to familiarize himself with the mandate of the College which is to build intellectual capacity in health care provision by providing quality medical education, research, innovation and leadership.
The CDF was received by the Director of Medical Services (DMS) Major General (Dr) George Ng’ang’a and DCHS Principal, Colonel Hellen Kamotho.
Col Kamotho made a comprehensive presentation on the objectives of the College, it’s capacity and capability as a centre of excellence in medical training and research for national security and strategy.
General Ogolla thanked the College leadership for the exemplary work they are doing to contribute to the wellbeing of the KDF soldiers saying, 
“The quality of any organisation largely depends on the skills of the staff therein. I have laid a lot of emphasis on training and capacity building not only in military field but also the professional aspect,” said the CDF.
He challenged the DCHS leadership to cast their net wider by offering additional training programmes in the medical field saying the KDF leadership would continue to offer the required support.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) Research, Innovation and Strategic Studies at the National Defence University-Kenya Major General William Shume, and his counterpart DVC in charge of Academic and Student Affairs Prof Anne Muigai and other senior officers also graced the occasion.
