NDU-K HOSTS CENTRAL GEORGIA TECHNICAL COLLEGE (CGTC)


The National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) was honoured to host a delegation from Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC), USA, led by the institution’s Executive Vice President, Mr. Jeff Scruggs, at the Seat in Lanet, Nakuru.

The high-level engagement offered a platform for both institutions to share insights on their respective capabilities, operations, and strategic objectives. Discussions centred on enhancing mutual understanding and exploring collaborative approaches to address contemporary security challenges through education and research.

Speaking during the meeting, the VC NDU-K, Lieutenant General David Tarus, emphasized the University’s core mandate on training, capacity building, research, and innovation in national security and strategy. He noted that NDU-K remains committed to contributing to national security and sustainable development through its academic and research programmes.

Lt Gen Tarus also expressed the University’s readiness to collaborate with CGTC on various fronts, including defence-related education, joint research initiatives, curriculum development, information and communication technology, student exchange programmes, pedagogy, and quality assurance. These collaborations aim to enhance learning outcomes and uphold high academic standards.

He highlighted the growing complexity of global security challenges, emphasizing the need for enhanced cooperation and coordination among institutions and nations.

On his part, Mr. Jeff Scruggs affirmed CGTC’s commitment to partnering with NDU-K in education and security programmes. He highlighted the potential for collaboration in faculty exchange, research, technical training, and programme development efforts that will nurture patriotic, passionate, and responsible servant leaders.

As part of their visit, the CGTC delegation is scheduled to tour various NDU-K colleges, including the Defence Forces College of Health Sciences (DCHS) and the Defence Forces Technical College (DEFTEC), for familiarization and further exchange of knowledge.
