NDU-K Holds 10th Regular Council Meeting

General Charles Kahariri, Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) and Chairperson of the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) Council, presided over the 10th Regular Council Meeting of the University held at the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) in Karen, Nairobi.

As the apex decision-making forum of the University, the Council meeting plays a pivotal role in providing policy guidance and strategic direction, particularly in positioning NDU-K as a center of excellence in defense and security education.

The session marked the fourth meeting in the 2024/2025 academic calendar and the second in the current financial year. It convened key stakeholders, including Service Commanders from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, and representatives from the Ministry of Education.

In his remarks, General Kahariri commended the University’s leadership for its steadfast commitment to academic excellence, capacity building, and research in the fields of national security and strategic studies. He specifically lauded the development and rollout of flagship academic programs such as the PhD in Crisis and Disaster Management, terming it a timely response to emerging regional and global challenges.

The Chairperson further emphasized the importance of aligning all academic initiatives with the University’s strategic mandate, urging continued innovation in curriculum development to meet future defense and security needs.

The Council reaffirmed its support for NDU-K’s mission to deliver world-class defense education and foster community engagement, thereby strengthening its contribution to national and regional security.
