CHIEF OF STAFF AND HEAD OF PUBLIC SERVICE CLOSES COURSE

The National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) on 2nd July 2024 hosted the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Mr. Felix Koskei, at International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC), when he presided over the closing ceremony of Ethics and Leadership for National Security Course.

IPSTC is a College of NDU-K mandated to conduct training, education and research, informing military, police and civilian personnel in all aspects of peace support operations in order to improve the effectiveness of the response to complex emergencies.

The aim of the course was to equip participants with the necessary national security awareness critical to the execution of their mandates as well as concepts of ethical leadership and governance and its profound impacts on national security dynamics.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Koskei, congratulated the participants on successfully completing the course and encouraged them to apply the knowledge and skills gained to advance the nation's security and uphold constitutional values.

He observed that presentations on, Concept of State and National Interest, Instruments of National Power, Kenya’s Geostrategic Importance in the Region, Foreign Policy and Diplomacy, Economic Policy, Kenya’s Boarders and Boundaries, Whole of Government Approach, National Values, Combating Economic Crimes, Strategic Communication and Government Protocol and Etiquette among others were critical in equiping participants with essential skills to address complex security challenges as well as fostering national development.

Vice Chancellor, Lieutenant General Jimson Mutai, making his remarks on behalf of Chief of the Defence Forces, General Charles Kahariri, lauded the Public Service for partnering with the University to deliver the Ethics and Leadership Course. He also thanked the facilitators for well delivered lectures during the training.
At the same plenary, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Research, Innovation and Security Studies, Major General William Shume, emphasized the significance of the training in the realm of governance, leadership and National Security.

The course which brought together Principal Secretaries drawn from all Government Ministries, was organized and held in three cohorts, each cohort taking two days of training commencing 25th June 2024 and ending 2nd July 2024.
