Col (Dr) Emmanuel Psongol Kondoltiony, PhD, is the Deputy Registrar (Academic and Student Affairs) and a Lecturer in Gender and Development Studies at NDU-K. He also serves as an Education Officer in the KDF.A senior military officer and scholar in gender and development, Col (Dr) Kondoltiony brings nearly three decades of experience in teaching, research, training, and academic leadership across both military and civilian higher education institutions. He holds a PhD in Gender and Development Studies from Kenyatta University, a Master of Science in Development Studies from Moi University, and a Bachelor of Education from the same institution. His academic and professional expertise spans gender studies, development studies, security governance, and strategic leadership. His research focuses on gender-responsive security frameworks and the intersection of gender and national development. He has participated in both individual and collaborative research projects addressing insecurity in Kenya’s North Rift region and the rising incidence of femicide in Kenya, contributing to evidence-based policy and scholarly discourse in the field.
Col (Dr) Kondoltiony has managed military distance learning programmes, developed instructional materials in leadership and command, and lectured in the former Egerton University–run Bachelor of Military Science programme. He has also supervised postgraduate research, particularly studies integrating gender perspectives into development, security and strategic studies. Internationally, he has participated in the Emerging Security Sector Leaders Seminar at the Africa Center for Strategic Studies in Washington, D.C., and the International Symposium on Military Academies in Pristina, Kosovo. He has further served as a Public Information Officer with the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) and the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS), contributing to strategic communication and peace support operations. Born in 1973 in West Pokot County, Kenya, Dr. Emmanuel Psongol Kondoltiony received his early education at Pcholpogh Primary School and Ortum High School, where he consistently distinguished himself as a top performer, leading his classes to unprecedented academic achievements in national examinations. He is married and a proud father of five children.
