Inauguration of the National Defence University-Kenya and website launch

The National Defence University-Kenya was inaugurated on August 3, 2022 in an event presided by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces HE. Hon President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is also the Chancellor of the University.

The University will be a Centre of Excellence in Training, Education and Research in National Security and Strategy. The programmes that will be offered at NDU-K are: Master of Arts and Postgraduate Diploma in National Security and Strategy; Master of Arts in Crisis Response and Disaster Management; Master of Arts in Intelligence, Security and Policy Studies; Bachelor of Science in Defence and Security Studies; Bachelor of Science in Information Technology for Defence Systems; Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Military Health; Higher Diploma in Critical Care Nursing; Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing; Postgraduate Diploma; and Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing.

Present at the ceremony were Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and military top brass including the university’s Vice-Chancellor Lt. General J. M. Mwangi among other senior Government officials.

Present also was Professor Stephen G. Kiama,  the University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor whose institution had partnered with NDU-K to deliver its website. The NDU-K website was launched on this date and is now accessible to the general public (https://ndu.ac.ke/).
