He noted that the Journal is evidence that the university is living up to what it was established to undertake; research and innovation in the fields of security and strategy to enhance national security and development.

The DVC pointed out that the journal is published annually, featuring contributions from Kenyan and international scholars as institution plans to index the journal in global academic databases for wider reach.

Brigadier Peter Chelimo, Director of Centre for Security and Strategic Studies (CSSS), Stated that the Journal will contribute immensely to the formulation of policies and strategies that will address the security challenges facing the country and the region. He added that academic research serves as the intellectual foundation upon which national security policies and strategies are built.

As Kenya's premier institution for defence and strategic studies, NDU-K aims to foster research that informs national security strategies as well as enhancing Kenya's capacity for homegrown solutions, promotes evidence -based security policies, strengthens collaboration between academia, defence forces, and policy makers.
