NCOs ACADEMY BENCHMARKS ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES AT NDU-K
A delegation from the Non-Commissioned Officers’ (NCOs) Academy visited the National Defence University–Kenya (NDU-K) for a benchmarking engagement aimed identifying best practices in the implementation and actualization of the Academy’s academic programmes.
The visit offered a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, enabling the delegation to gain deeper insights into NDU-K’s academic structures, curriculum development processes and institutional frameworks that underpin the delivery of high-quality defence and security education.
During the engagement, the delegation interacted with the University’s leadership, faculty, and staff, seeking to understand how NDU-K aligns its academic programmes with national security priorities while maintaining global academic standards. The discussions highlighted the University’s integrated approach to education, which blends theory, research, and practical application.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Anne Muigai, underscored NDU-K’s commitment to academic excellence. She emphasized the importance of continuous curriculum review, the integration of research and innovation, and the adoption of modern teaching methodologies in ensuring the relevance and quality of academic programmes.
Prof. Muigai reaffirmed the University’s readiness to support the NCOs Academy in its institutional growth, noting that such collaborations are essential in aligning training initiatives with both national objectives and evolving security demands.
The NCOs Academy delegation, led by Commandant Lieutenant Colonel Francis Orondo, expressed appreciation for the insights shared during the visit. He noted that the benchmarking exercise would significantly contribute to enhancing the Academy’s capacity to deliver quality training and education for non-commissioned officers.
The visit underscored the importance of sustained collaboration among military training institutions in promoting capacity building, professional development, and the advancement of defence education.
