NDC & IPSTC STUDENTS VISIT NDU-K FOR STRATEGIC INDUCTION
The National Defence College (NDC) Course 28-2025/26 and postgraduate students from the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) comprising PhD and Master’s students visited the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) at its main Seat in Lanet, Nakuru County. The delegation included senior military officers drawn from 20 countries, civilian representatives from Kenyan government ministries and state departments, as well as members of various national security agencies. Both NDC and IPSTC are colleges of NDU-K.
The visiting delegation, led by NDC Deputy Commandant, Major General Stephen Mutuku, and IPSTC Director, Major General Charles Mwanzige, were on an induction tour aimed at familiarizing participants with the mandate and academic vision of the University. The guests were briefed on NDU-K’s core mission of training, capacity building, and conducting research and innovation in the specialized field of national security and strategy.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor NDU-K, Lieutenant General David Tarus, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to producing visionary leaders equipped to develop strategic solutions grounded in evidence-based research and innovation. He emphasized that such leadership not only contributes to enhanced national security but also supports Kenya’s broader socio-economic development agenda.
Lieutenant General Tarus further encouraged faculty and students to prioritize research excellence and the publication of high-quality scholarly work, noting that such outputs would significantly elevate the University’s academic and professional profile.
Also present at the event were Deputy Vice-Chancellor Finance and Administration, Major General Thomas Ng’ang’a; Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and Student Affairs, Professor Anne Muigai; the University Registrar, Directors, Heads of Departments, as well as faculty and staff from both NDU-K and the visiting institutions.
