The National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K), on  01February 2024 launched the rehabilitation of 1.3km Bridge Point- Mereroni Primary School and Ndege roads within  Mereroni sub location, Bahati Constitiency, Nakuru county.

Through partnership with local leadership, the University identified the two roads as they are critical to the community and are  impassable during the rainy season thus impeding movement of vehicles and school going children on foot. The roads are approximately 1.0km and 1.3km long respectively.

In his remarks to guests and local community gathered, and read on his behalf by Brigadier Peter Kimondiu, Vice- Chancellor, Major General Said Farah said that NDU-K purposes to establish meaningful relationship with the community so as to create a lasting impact by identifying relevant initiatives as this will enhance social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the local community.

He further noted that well maintained roads will contribute to safer transport networks that enhance easy movement of goods and services which in turn will accelerate local economic growth.

The area MP Hon. Irene Njoki,who was represented by the Constituency Manager Mr. Peter Mburu said residents were thankful for the rehabilitation of new roads as they would go a long way in boosting socio-economic development in the constituency.

She hailed NDU-K and KDF in general for the initiatives, promising that her office will continue working closely with them to ensure the area benefits from the developments initiated.

The area Senior Chief, Mr. James Karanja  thanked NDU-K for the timely support. He acknowledged the continuous support provided by the University leadership in the region and emphasized the importance  of monitoring ongoing collaboration to ensure the success of the  project for socio-economic prosperity.

The rehabilitation of dilapidated roads is part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities by NDU-K, geared towards improving the general wellbeing of the society.
