NDU-K HITS THE FAIRWAY FOR ITS 3RD ANNUAL GOLF SERIES

Hundreds of golfers teed off at Nakuru Golf Club for the third edition of the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) Annual Golf Tournament, underscoring the event’s growing stature as a premier platform for promoting fitness, wellness and meaningful engagement among the University’s diverse stakeholders. Beyond the competition, the tournament brought together players from the defence and security sector, academia, corporate institutions and the wider community to  foster camaraderie and  strengthen professional and social networks.

During the event, NDU-K Vice-Chancellor, Lieutenant General David Tarus, commended participants for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship, noting that sporting activities provide an important avenue for promoting physical fitness, strengthening relationships and cultivating a culture of teamwork and collaboration.

He noted that the tournament forms part of the University’s Anniversary activities, providing an opportunity to celebrate the institution’s achievements, growth and milestones over the years.

He also expressed appreciation to the sponsors, golfers and stakeholders whose support contributed to the tournament’s success.

On his part, the Chairperson of Nakuru Golf Club (NGC), Mr. Francis Mwangi, lauded the University management for choosing the club to host the tournament, noting that the partnership provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between NDU-K and the golfing fraternity.

Brigadier Victor Kang’ethe, Chairperson of the Kenya Defence Forces Golf Association (KDFGA), commended NDU-K for leveraging golf to foster interaction, camaraderie and networking among members of the defence and security community, academia, corporate institutions and the wider public. He reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to supporting initiatives that advance sporting excellence, wellness and cohesion within the defence fraternity and beyond.

The tournament concluded with impressive performances across the various categories, reflecting the participants’ competitive spirit, skill and sportsmanship. Mr. Nicholas Karoki emerged as the overall winner, displaying remarkable skill, consistency and composure throughout the competition.
