NDU–K HOLDS ITS 16TH REGULAR SENATE MEETING & 17TH UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT BOARD SESSION
The National Defence University–Kenya (NDU–K) Vice-Chancellor (VC), Lieutenant General David Tarus, presided over the 16th Regular Senate Meeting (RSM) and the 17th University Management Board (UMB) session held at the University Seat in Lanet, Nakuru County. In line with the University Statutes, the Vice-Chancellor chairs both the Senate and the University Management Board.
In his address, the VC commended the University for its steadfast commitment to fulfilling its mandate through the implementation of innovative academic programmes and impactful research initiatives. He urged members to maintain focus, foster teamwork, and continue delivering world-class education and training that empower defence and security professionals in line with national strategic objectives.
Lieutenant General Tarus further informed the Senate that the 3rd Graduation Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, 21st November 2025. He emphasized that the graduation ceremony offers the University an important platform to showcase its achievements and demonstrate the successful execution of its core mandate. Additionally, it provides an opportunity to brief the University Chancellor on NDU–K’s contributions to national security and development through education, training, research, and strategic engagements.
The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted that NDU–K is actively engaging with the National Police Leadership Academy (NPLA) with the aim of onboarding it as a constituent college of the University. This strategic collaboration is expected to further strengthen the integration of security sector training and enhance inter-agency cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Commandants, Principals, the Registrar Academic Affairs, Directors, Heads of Programmes from NDU–K’s seven Colleges, and Heads of Departments based at the University Seat.
