NDUK-K MARKS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) recently celebrated this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) at the University Seat in Lanet, Nakuru County.
This year, the campaign theme "Inspire Inclusion," emphasizes the importance of breaking down barriers and valuing the unique contributions by all women.
The event was graced by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Research, Innovation and Security Studies Major General William Shume , who articulated the achievements by women in social, economic and, security leadership and emphasised the need to accelerate gender parity for a better tomorrow.
He assured the women staff that the University leadership shall continue supporting them in order to enhance interoperability on gender issues.
DVC Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Anne Muigai, reiterated issues facing women that include societal cultural beliefs and encouraged them to stand up for what would uplift their social status.
She encouraged them to work together to create an environment where men and women are allowed to participate in and make decisions regardless of their gender.
The International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and girls, while also making a call to action for strengthening gender equality and accelerating women’s empowerment.
The event was also attended by the, DVC Finance & Administration Major General (Rtd) Patrick Amogola, Director Examinations, Brig Elizabeth Omollo,Directors, Heads of Departments, Officers and Service Members.
