INSTITUTE FOR SECURITY GOVERNANCE VISITS NDU-K

A team from the United States Institute for Security Governance (ISG) recently visited Defence Forces Technical College (DEFTEC). DEFTEC is a College of National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K).
The team comprising Mr Jay Hall, Mr Chris Simpson, Mr Rickey Godette Jr and Mr Terrence Kilgore was at DEFTEC the to firm up its commitment to strengthen institutional capacity and address shared security challenges. ISG, situated within the United States Defence Security Cooperation University’s International School of Education and Advising, is the U.S Department of Defence Centre of Excellence for Institutional Capacity Building.

The team held discussions with NDU-K Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and Student Affairs, Prof Anne Muigai, DEFTEC Principal, Brig Ali Dahir, and Senior Officers from DEFTEC.

The meeting was a follow-up to earlier engagements between NDU-K, DEFTEC and US Academic Institutions organized by ISG. The objectives of the meetings have been to identify US Academic Institutions that DEFTEC can establish partnerships and collaborations in order to, first, enhance its capacity in Technical Curriculum Development. Secondly, DEFTEC seeks to enhance the quality of its existing technical Diploma programmes and upcoming Masters programmes in Aeronautical Engineering, Information technology for Defence Systems and Weapons Engineering. The College also seeks to identifying Training Aids for its modernisation programme.

DEFTEC offers quality NDU-K Engineering and Information Technology programmes for the Kenya Defence Forces technical personnel. The College is preparing to roll out Masters Programmes and conduct research and development in support of KDF Industrialisation Strategy.
