PEDAGOGY AND PUBLISHING WORKSHOPS FOR NDU-K STAFF ENTER THIRD DAY

Four-day workshops on Pedagogy and Publishing for NDU-K staff, entered the third today with the commencement of a second workshop on academic publishing. This follows a two-day workshop on Course Design, Facilitation and Assessment which came to an end yesterday.

In those two days, participants were taken through intensive training in innovative course designs, constructive alignment of curriculums, designing course outlines, threshold concepts, , case methods, flipped learning, tools for innovative assessment ending the phase one of training with an interesting role play, games, simulations session. During the closing ceremony, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and Student Affairs Prof Anne Muigai, awarded facilitator certificates to Prof Khaemba Ongeti, Prof Wanjira Kinuthia, Dr Cynthia Chebet and Dr Daniel Karanja, the workshop facilitators.

The second phase of training, which will cover publishing of academic material, will take participants through areas such as identification of high impact journals, smart journal selection strategies, how to use Orchid and Google Scholar to increase researcher’s visibility, publishing in open access and webometrics, among other topics. The workshop is being facilitated by Prof Tom Kwanya and Mr Timothy Sukya.
