GERMAN DEFENCE ATTACHÉ VISITS NDU-K
National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) today hosted the German Defence Attaché, Commander Holger Grossman at the University Seat in Lanet-Nakuru County.
Accompanied by Lieutenant Bekir Arik, Commander Grossman was received at the University by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Research, Innovation and Security Studies,Major General William Shume on behalf of Vice-Chancellor (VC) Lieutenant General Gimson Mutai.
In his remarks during the meeting, Maj Gen Shume re-affirmed NDU-K’s mandate of training, capacity building and conducting research and innovation in national security and strategy, highlighting that progress in these areas relies on collaboration and mutual learning.
On his part, Commander Grossman appreciated the Ministry of Defence and NDU-K interest in forging partnerships and collaborations with German institutions and affirmed his full support for the implementation process.
The visit provided a platform to deliberate on collaboration and partnership between NDU-K and the University of Bundeswehr, Munich in areas that included equipment support,joint research, exchange programs for both cadets and lectures, cyber security, terrorism, climate change and environmental science programs, among others.
It further provided the two institutions a forum to learn first-hand lessons and experiences that have steered each to effectively execute their mandates.
During the meeting, the DVC, was flanked by: the Head of Teaching and Curriculum Colonel (Dr) Charles Imbiakha, Head of Human Resource Dr. Caroline Gatobu, Colonel Jared Oigara and Mr. George Maangi both Researchers, among others.
