Profile Summary

Brig Elizabeth Omollo joined the Kenya Armed Forces in October 1997 and was posted to the now-defunct Women Service Corps (WSC) as Unit Education Officer. Before joining the Military, she was a teacher at Geke Secondary School in Nyamira County (1994-1997).  She holds a Master of Arts in International Security and Strategy (ISS) from King’s College London (KCL), United Kingdom (UK), a Master in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Education (Arts) Degree from Moi University. She sat for her ‘A’ levels in 1989 (Nyabisawa Girls High School) and ‘O’ levels in 1987 (Nyaroha Girls Secondary School), both in Migori County. 

After the disbandment of WSC in 1999, she was posted to the Kenya Air Force. Currently, she is the Director of Examinations National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K), a position she has held since 23 July 2021. She has also held various Staff and Instructional appointments in the Kenya Defence to include;

  • Unit Education Officer, WSC

  • Unit Education Officer, Moi Air Base (MAB)

  • Aide De Camp (ADC)/Admin Officer to Assistant Chief of General Staff Personnel and Logistics (ACGS P&L), Defence HQ

  • Admin Officer VIP wing, MAB, 

  • Staff Officer 2 in charge of Education, Kenya Air Force HQ

  • Staff Officer 1 in charge of Personnel, Kenya Air Force HQ. 

  • Directing Staff, International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC)

  • Head of Curriculum, IPSTC

  • Head of Training and Education, IPSTC

  • Her last position before assuming her current role was Colonel Plans and Programmes, IPSTC.

She has participated in Gender Assessment Research, which sought to establish the extent to which regional bodies and Selected Eastern African Stand by Force (EASF) member states had mainstreamed gender in their Peace Support Operations (PSO) Policies, Programmes, particularly in planning, design and implementation. July – August 2018. The findings were validated (September 2018) and Disseminated (November 2018). The report was presented during the 7th Meeting of Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Ministers Responsible for Women/Gender Affairs, Khartoum, Sudan, 3 – 7 December 2018.  The overall theme was “Leaving No One Behind: Promoting Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment to Enhance Resilience, Regional Integration and Peace for Sustainable Development in the IGAD Region.” 
She also participated in the Training Needs Assessment (TNA) exercise conducted in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, sponsored by the United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM) and Booz Allen Hamilton (BAH) Consultancy in conjunction with IPSTC. The aim was to develop a Disaster Management Training curriculum for the Eastern African Region, 9-14 March 2014.
She had the privilege of giving a keynote address during the Moi University@40 event on June 7, 2024, at Moi University's main campus in Eldoret, Kenya. “Harnessing Innovative Leadership and Technology towards Women Empowerment”. This was in honour of her accomplishment as a woman and alumnus for shattering barriers in the fields of military and education by embodying their ideals of excellence and service. The honour also demonstrated the Kenya Defence Forces dedication as an employer who is committed to equal opportunity.
Brigadier Omollo has served in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), 2003-2004 and as an Election Observer and cessation of hostilities mission in Mozambique, 2014 -2015
She is a graduate of the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS), UK.
Her decorations include EBS, the United Nations Medal, and other Constitutional medals given in the Kenya Defence Force.
She is a mother of two, daughter and son.
