From Vision to Impact: NDU-K Marks Five Years of Academic and Strategic Excellence
The National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) celebrated its fifth anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its journey of academic growth, research excellence, and strategic leadership development.
Since its establishment, the university has steadily strengthened its position as a premier institution for defence and security studies, producing leaders equipped to address evolving national, regional, and global security challenges.
The anniversary milestone highlighted progress across academic programming, institutional partnerships, and infrastructure development, achievements its leadership says have positioned NDU-K as a key centre for defence and security studies in the region.
Presiding over the celebrations, Vice-Chancellor Lieutenant General David Tarus described the five-year mark as a testament to a strong foundation built on academic excellence and dedication to service.
"Within a relatively short period, the university has positioned itself as a key centre for nurturing strategic leaders equipped to respond to emerging national, regional, and global security challenges," he said.
Lt Gen Tarus also paid tribute to the President, His Exellency Hon William Samoei Ruto, the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces and Chancellor of NDU-K, crediting his administration's support as instrumental to the institution's growth and success.
A series of commemorative activities marked the occasion, underscoring NDU-K's broader contribution to national development. The Deputy Vice chancellor, Finance and Administration,
reaffirmed the institution's commitment to its long-term vision of becoming a world-class centre of excellence in defence, security, and strategic studies.
The milestone comes at a time when the demand for institutions capable of preparing leaders to navigate increasingly complex security environments continues to grow. NDU-K maintains that it is well-positioned to help address this need through its academic and professional development programs.
As the university enters its next phase of growth, its leadership remains focused on strengthening its role as a hub for strategic thinking, research, and leadership development in support of national, regional, and global security.
