NDU-K Deepens Global Partnerships through Strategic Collaboration with Central Georgia Technical College

Institutions of higher and technical education play a critical role in preparing individuals and nations for an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world. It is on this shared belief that the National Defence University–Kenya (NDU-K) and Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) have forged a strategic partnership aimed at advancing technical skills, innovation, knowledge exchange and institutional capacity.

The partnership was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Central Georgia Technical College in the United States, establishing a framework for cooperation in technical skills development, research, innovation, academic and professional exchanges, and other areas of mutual interest.

Through the MoU, NDU-K and CGTC will seek to translate the partnership into practical programmes and initiatives that deliver sustainable value to both institutions and their wider stakeholders, with the Defence Forces Technical College (DEFTEC) and the Defence College of Health Sciences (DCHS)- Colleges of NDU-K expected to play a leading role in implementing and benefiting from the collaboration’s initiatives.

Areas of cooperation will include technical skills development, research and innovation, institutional capacity building, knowledge exchange, academic and professional exchanges, and joint initiatives of mutual interest.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, NDU-K Vice-Chancellor, Lieutenant General David Tarus, said the partnership reflects the shared commitment of the two institutions to harness education, technical training and innovation in preparing individuals, as well as security and defence institutions, to respond effectively to an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world.

He noted that the collaboration would create opportunities for the exchange of expertise, strengthen institutional capacity and promote the development of practical and industry-relevant skills aligned with emerging national, regional and global challenges.

He further underscored NDU-K’s commitment to cultivating strategic partnerships that advance its mandate of developing strategic leaders through quality education, research and innovation, while contributing to national resilience, institutional transformation and sustainable development.

During the engagement, the President of Central Georgia Technical College, Dr. Ivan Allen, reaffirmed his institution’s commitment to translating the agreement into tangible programmes and outcomes that strengthen institutional linkages and deepen collaboration between Kenya and the United States.

The partnership will provide a platform for NDU-K and CGTC to leverage their respective expertise, resources and experiences to promote practical learning, applied research and innovation. It will also facilitate academic and professional exchanges, knowledge sharing and capacity development among learners, faculty and staff.

NDU-K continues to reinforce its commitment to expanding strategic collaborations with local and international institutions as part of its broader efforts to enhance the quality, relevance and impact of education, research and professional training.
