The National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) Vice-Chancellor (VC), Lieutenant General Jimson Mutai has reaffirmed the University's commitment to offering cutting-edge training and research, creating an enabling academic discourse, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise, necessary to address dynamic security challenges as well as supporting national development.

The VC underscored the importance of the current collaboration between NDU-K and local and International Government Agencies as well as other institutions of higher learning, stating that such partnerships enhance mutual learning, research, and innovation.
The VC made the remarks as he presided over the 11th Regular Senate Meeting (RSM), and 12th University Management Board (UMB) held at the University Seat in Lanet, Nakuru. By authority of the University Statutes, the VC is Chairperson of both RSM and UMB.

“The university has over the last few months undertaken a comprehensive review of a number of its programs in order to conform with the Commission for University Education (CUE) standards and guidelines,” the VC said.

He appreciated the University’s continued execution of its mandate through innovative academic programmes and research. He urged the Senate to remain focused and embrace team work to ensure the University delivers in accordance with its Charter and strive to embed best practices in its processes.

He further implored the members to at all times exercise prudence and fiscal discipline within the confines of the Public Finance and Management Laws and regulations noting that as the surest way of achieving NDU-K objectives.

NDU-K Senate and UMB consists of the Vice-Chancellor (Chairperson), Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Commandants, Principals and Heads of Programmes from the seven (7) NDU-K Colleges, the Registrar Academic Affairs as well as Directors and Heads of various Departments at the Seat.
