UNIVERSITY HOLDS 14TH REGULAR SENATE MEETING AND 10TH SENATE BOARD OF EXAMINERS MEETING
The National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) convened its 14th Regular Senate Meeting and 10th Senate Board of Examiners (SBE) Meeting at its Seat in Lanet, Nakuru County. The sessions were chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Lieutenant General Jimson Mutai.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor commended the University’s continued commitment to fulfilling its mandate through innovative academic programmes and research initiatives. He urged members to remain focused and foster teamwork to ensure the University delivers on its Charter. He emphasized the importance of embedding best practices in institutional processes as the most reliable way to achieve the University's objectives.
Lt. Gen. Mutai further highlighted the need to adopt innovation and emerging technologies to support the University's academic and research growth, while remaining mindful of available human and capital resources.
A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of a comprehensive proposal from the Defence Intelligence Academy (DIA), outlining plans to launch new academic programmes: a Master of Arts in Military Intelligence and a Master of Science in Defence Intelligence. These proposed programmes reflect the University’s unique mandate and ongoing efforts to advance specialized knowledge and competencies in the defence and security sectors.
The meetings were attended by Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Commandants, Principals, Heads of Programmes from the seven NDU-K Colleges, the Registrar – Academic Affairs, as well as Directors and Heads of various departments based at the Seat.
