CHANGE OF COMMAND AT NDU-K
Lieutenant General Jimson Longiro Mutai has today, officially assumed office as the 3rd National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) Vice-Chancellor (VC) following his promotion and appointment by His Excellency Dr. William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, Commander-In-Chief of the Defence Forces and Chancellor of NDU-K. He takes over from Maj Gen Said Mohammed Farah.
During the handover ceremony, held at the University Seat in Lanet, Nakuru County, the incoming VC was apprised of the roles and strategies that have aided the ever-growing stature of the University and which have enabled the efficient execution of its mandate. He was also briefed on the current strategic engagements and key achievements, which include accreditation of new academic programmes and a growing portfolio of partnerships and collaborations, amongst others.
In his remarks, the incoming VC, said that he is grateful for the opportunity and trust bestowed upon him, committing to promote and expand the existing capacities and partnerships to enhance self-reliance, and harness opportunities to shape policy and strategy-making discourse within the institution. He hailed his predecessor for the commitment, hard work and resilience throughout his tenure at the University.
He further implored the University staff to embrace teamwork, support one another and let synergy be their greatest asset noting that ever- evolving and complex security environment requires innovative thinking, teamwork and mutual collaboration.
In his remarks, the outgoing VC Major General Said Farah hailed the incoming VC for his vast experience in diverse fields making him the best choice to take the University to even greater heights.
He lauded the University fraternity for the unwavering support they gave him during his tenure and encouraged them to give the same support to the incoming VC to enable the achievement of the University’s mission and vision.
He added that with the incoming VC at the helm, he is certain that the institution's mandate of offering education, training as well as research in defence, security and strategy will be continuously achieved.
The event was also attended by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Research, Innovation and Security Studies Major General William Shume , DVC Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Anne Muigai, DVC Finance & Administration Major General (Rtd) Patrick Amogola, Directors, Heads of Departments, Officers and Service Members.
