NDU-K HOLDS CBE WORKSHOP
The National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) held a three-day workshop on Competence-Based Education (CBE) at the Defence Headquarters Officers Mess Conference Room from January 29-31, 2025.
The workshop aimed to sensitize NDU-K staff and academicians from its seven Colleges on the dynamics of transitioning from the 8-4-4 education system to CBE. Experts from Kenyatta University and the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) facilitated the sessions.
The workshop was officially opened by Prof. Anne Muigai, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and Student Affairs, and closed by Maj. Gen. William Shume, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation, and Security Studies. Both DVCs delivered remarks on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.
In the remarks, the Vice-Chancellor urged participants to develop a comprehensive CBE implementation framework and roadmap in preparation for the first cohort of CBC (Competency-Based Curriculum) candidates at the university by 2029.
