NDU-K Reaffirms Commitment to Institutional Excellence through Performance Contracting

The National Defence University–Kenya (NDU-K) has reaffirmed its commitment to institutional excellence, accountability and results-oriented service delivery through the implementation of its Performance Contract for the 2026/2027 Financial Year.

Performance contracting provides an important framework for translating institutional priorities into measurable targets and strengthening accountability across public institutions. At NDU-K, the framework will guide the University’s efforts to deliver on its mandate and advance its strategic priorities during the financial year.

Leading the signing ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Lieutenant General David Tarus, underscored the importance of Performance Contracting as a key management tool for enhancing accountability, efficiency and effective service delivery across the University.

He reiterated NDU-K’s commitment to strengthening its contribution to defence, security, leadership and strategic studies through quality education, impactful research and innovation, while developing strategic leaders equipped to respond to emerging national, regional and global security challenges.

Also participating in the University’s performance contracting process were the Deputy Vice-Chancellors, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Finance and Administration, Major General Thomas N Ng’ang’a; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Security Studies, Major General Samuel Kipkorir; and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Anne Muigai.

The signing marks the University leadership’s collective commitment to achieving the set targets for the 2026/2027 Financial Year and strengthening a culture of performance, accountability and continuous improvement in fulfilment of NDU-K’s institutional mandate.

Through effective implementation of the Performance Contract, NDU-K seeks to enhance institutional effectiveness and service delivery while advancing its contribution to national development through education, research, innovation and strategic leadership.
