National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) Staff recently visited Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology (MMUST) to discuss possible areas of collaboration between the two institutions. This was a reciprocal visit following an earlier visit to NDU-K by MMUST delegation.

The two institutions are involved in crafting of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at enabling partnership and collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

The MOU will be aiming at collaboration in several areas that include; curriculum validation and review, exchange/mentorship of staff, visiting lecturers in specific areas, participation in academic seminars and workshops, joint publications and joint research in areas of mutual concern.

Speaking during the meeting, MMUST Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Mutai expressed his satisfaction about the collaboration, saying that MMUST is ready to partner with NDU-K to ensure training of top-notch security professionals in Kenya.

“We are looking forward to collaborating with NDU-K. We have several areas of commonality and this will assist us to craft combined research proposals, besides engaging in community outreach activities,” added Prof. Mutai.

Col (Dr) Charles.Okongo Imbiakha, who led NDU-K delegation reiterated the mutual benefits that the two institutions stand to gain based on the unique niche that they occupy. He emphasized the need for joint programs, short capacity courses and exchange programs as areas that could benefit the two institutions.

The NDU-K delegation composed Col (Dr) C O Imbiakha (Head of Delegation), Col J O Oigara, Col D O Ojwang, Col J M Ngatia, Lt Col (Dr) E Kondoltiony and Mr Dickens Wendoh.
