COURTESY VISIT STRENGTHENS TIES BETWEEN NDU-K AND NIRU

Professor Chacha Nyaigotti-Chacha, Chairperson of the Commission for University Education (CUE), and Dr. James K. Kibon, Vice Chancellor of The National Intelligence and Research University (NIRU), recently visited National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) and met with its Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Jimson Mutai.

During the meeting, Prof. Nyaigotti-Chacha extended congratulations to Dr. Kibon on NIRU's recent Charter award under Section 24 of the Universities Act (Cap 210). He also commended Lt. Gen. Mutai and NDU-K for their mentorship, which has enabled NIRU’s evolution from a college to a fully-fledged university.

Prof. Nyaigotti-Chacha emphasized the importance of the universities’ shared mission: to provide education and conduct research that safeguards Kenya's national interest and advances the country’s development objectives. He urged both institutions to stay focused on their specialized areas, commending Lt. Gen. Mutai for his leadership in establishing NDU-K as an internationally recognized institution.

Lt. Gen. Mutai expressed gratitude for CUE’s support during NDU-K’s accreditation, underscoring the university's ongoing growth and the need for continued guidance.

Dr. Kibon thanked the leadership of the Kenya Defence Forces and NDU-K for their mentorship, which he credited for positioning NIRU to fulfill its mandate. He expressed confidence that the partnership between NDU-K and NIRU will continue to promote sustainable growth and collaboration between the two institutions.
