Mentorship remains a key strategic objective of the National Defence University–Kenya (NDU-K), reflecting the University's unwavering commitment to nurturing ethical leadership, resilience and responsible citizenship among the next generation.

Representing the University in a mentorship engagement at Moi Forces Academy–Lanet, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Student Affairs), Professor Anne Muigai, challenged parents to take a more intentional role in shaping their children's character. She encouraged parents to build trusting relationships with their daughters by becoming approachable confidants, creating a safe environment where conversations extend beyond academic performance to include life skills, values and guidance on navigating contemporary societal challenges, including the negative influence of social media and LGBTQ.

Conveying the Vice Chancellor Lieutenant General David Tarus' message, Prof. Muigai urged parents to involve their children in household chores and daily responsibilities as a practical means of instilling discipline, accountability, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility. The Vice Chancellor further underscored the importance of raising resilient, adaptable and values-driven young people who are equipped to thrive in an increasingly dynamic and competitive workforce, both in Kenya and across the globe.

The engagement reaffirmed NDU-K's commitment to mentorship as a strategic pillar for developing future leaders equipped to serve the nation with integrity, excellence and purpose.
