As the curtains draw on the week-long Nairobi International Trade Fair (NITF), the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) takes pride in not only participating in the premier exhibition, but also in showcasing its academic, research and innovation capabilities.

NDU-K, together with its participating Colleges—the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC), Defence Forces Technical College (DEFTEC) and Defence College of Health Sciences (DCHS)—secured second position in four categories: Best Stand that Interprets the Current Show Theme (Education and Research); Best Innovation and Invention Stand; Best Stand in Research and Development (Education); and Best Tertiary Level Education Stand other than the University.

The recognition underscores NDU-K’s growing contribution to education, research and innovation, while highlighting the relevance of its knowledge and capabilities to national security, defence and national development.

At the Fair, NDU-K showcased how its academic programmes, research and innovations connected with this year’s NITF theme, “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth.” The exhibition highlighted the role of research, knowledge and innovation in addressing contemporary challenges and supporting sustainable development.

The participation also provided an opportunity for NDU-K to engage with the public, profile its academic programmes and research initiatives, and demonstrate its role in advancing strategic thought, leadership and knowledge in support of national security and development.

The strong showing at the NITF reflected the collective contribution of the University and its Colleges in advancing NDU-K’s mandate through education, research and innovation.
