NDU-K HOLDS 13TH UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT BOARD MEETING

The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K), Lieutenant General Jimson Mutai, has called on the University Management Board (UMB) to consistently uphold fiscal discipline and prudence in alignment with Public Finance and Management Laws. He emphasized that these principles are key to achieving the University's objectives.

Lt. Gen. Mutai highlighted the value of ongoing collaborations between NDU-K and both local and international government agencies, as well as other academic institutions. These partnerships foster mutual learning, research, and innovation.

Addressing the UMB, the VC announced the successful finalization of Human Resource Instruments through engagement with the State Corporations Advisory Committee (SCAC) and the Public Service Commission (PSC). This will allow NDU-K to proceed with the recruitment of staff, which had previously been suspended pending approval.
He also stressed the need to develop modern Information Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure to enhance inter-operability and streamline information flow within the university.

The remarks were made during the 13th UMB meeting, held at NDU-K's seat in Lanet, Nakuru County. As per the university statutes, the Vice-Chancellor chairs both the Regular Senate Meeting (RSM) and the UMB.

The NDU-K Management Board includes the Vice-Chancellor (Chairperson), Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Commandants, Principals, and Heads of Programs from the University's seven colleges, as well as the Registrar of Academic Affairs, Directors, and Heads of various departments.
